Now when I tried Office Word it requested me I know I had done a few reboots during all this but I think I failed to do a reboot after running the “Repair” tool for Office until I rebooted after fixing Device Manager. I had no info showing up in my Device Manager so I found this link ! and followed those instructions. Not complete a system restore for any date, disabled/uninstalled any recent stuff added to Firefox as an extension or plugin, uninstalled any new programs I installed in the past week, turned off some of the startup programs via Startup Optimizer. In this post (the “Fix It Tool” still could not get Office to work), restored/undid the registry changes done by CCcleaner (have never had a problem with CCC before) and Toolwiz (I think Toolwiz was possible culprit with the registry cleaner), tried but could Scanned with Malwarebytes which found 1 virus, then scanned with AVG (downloaded to replace Avast as even reinstalling Avast would not get it to work – no virus), scanned with Panda – no virus, did all the things Not recall the exact order but I did all this…. After about 10 hours of messing around and I do Avast antivirus was off and could not be restarted, No Device Manager info, icons missing from the notification bar, the MS Office issue, etc.
As I began to try to repair it I found several things wrong…. After she restarted it she noticed a few things were messed
Her computer was working fine and then it just suddenly shut down – and not from a MS software update. Some new software tools, and running a couple of cleaners/speed-up tools all within the same week. It was my wife’s computer that was running really slow so I made the mistake of updating a number of Drivers, downloading I got mine working again after a series of things.
